Species Name: Pseudanthias hawaiiensis Randall, 1979
Range: Hawaiian and Johnston Islands
Size: up to 3 inches (7 cm)
Natural Environment: Found swimming upside down in caves or under overhangs in depths between 85 to 650 feet (27 - 215 m)
General Husbandry: Prefer a water temperature of 70 - 76°F (21 - 24°C). Require exceptional water quality, good water movement and numerous feedings per day. Diet consists mainly of meaty foodstuffs, e.g., mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and enriched fresh fish and shrimp flesh. Prefers low light conditions and caves to hide in, which they do not venture far from. Somewhat difficult to maintain and not harm invertebrate.
