Common Name: Cooper's/Redbar/Silverstreak Anthias

Species Name: Pseudanthias cooperi (Regan, 1902)


Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: East Africa east to Samoa and the Line Islands, north to Japan and south to the Great Barrier Reef; Palau, Marshall and Mariana Islands in Micronesia


Size: up to 5 inches (12 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit reef faces and slopes/drop-off areas where they form small loose aggregations along current swept reef faces and drop-offs


General Husbandry: Prefer a water temperature of 72 - 80°F (22 - 27°C). Diet consists mainly of meaty foodstuffs, e.g., mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and enriched fresh fish and shrimp flesh. Will not harm invertebrate and prefer lower light levels. Males develop an incomplete crimson bar in the middle of their sides. One male per tank.
