Range: Central Pacific Ocean: Mauritius to Hawaiian Islands, south to Loyalty Islands, and north to the Yaeyamas

Size: up to 5 inches (12 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabit reef faces and slopes/drop-off areas.

General Husbandry: Prefer a water temperature of 72 - 80°F (22 - 27°C). Does well in reef aquariums. Keep in small groups consisting of one male and four or more females. Require exceptional water quality, good water movement and numerous feedings per day. Diet consists mainly of meaty foodstuffs, e.g., mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and enriched fresh fish and shrimp flesh. Can jump out of the aquarium, so some sort of covers may be necessary. Have used an eggcrate grill over open sections of my aquarium. Don't mix with other family members. One of the better reef aquarium Anthias.
