Species Name: Plectranthias longimanus (Weber, 1913)


Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: East Africa to Fiji and north to southern Japan and south to Queensland Australia Hawaiian


Size: up to 1.5 inches (3.5 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabits shallow coastal areas amongst boulders and bommies


General Husbandry: Prefer a water temperature of 72 - 78°F (22 - 26°C). Rarely seen in the trade, and I have yet to see one in captivity. Diet consists mainly of meaty foodstuffs, e.g., mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, enriched fresh fish, shrimp flesh and possibly some algae. Not much else is known about it.
