Species Name: Pomacanthus semicirculatus (Cuvier, 1831)


Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea and East Africa to Fiji, southern Japan, Western Australia and New South Wales, including Lord Howe Island


Size: up to 16 inches (40 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit protected heavy coral growths with ample hiding places with the juveniles found mostly in shallow water above the reef and often collected between depths of 10 to over 100 feet (3 - 30 m)


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 77 - 82°F (25 - 28°C) and their natural diet consists mainly of sponge, tunicates and some algae. Need a varied diet and numerous feeding per day. Excellent community fish.
