Species Name: Pomacanthus sexstriatus (Cuvier, 1831)


Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: Ryukyu Islands to Malaysia to Solomon Islands, south to Australia


Size: up to 20 inches (50 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit coral rich areas with juveniles in sheltered inner reef areas and collected between depths of 15 to over 100 feet (3 - 20 m)


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 77 - 82°F (25 - 28°C) and their natural diet consists mainly of crustaceans, sponges, tunicates and some algae. Need a varied diet and numerous feeding per day. Can make a grunting noise when harassed.
