Species Name: Pomacanthus asfur (Forsskål, 1775)
Range: Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and Gulf of Aden
Size: up to 16 inches (40 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit semi-protected inshore reefs, usually near caves or near areas rich in soft and stony corals and collected between depths of 10 to 50 feet (3 - 15 m)
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 77 - 86°F (25 - 30°C) and their natural diet consists mainly of sponges and tunicates. Need a varied diet and numerous feeding per day. Commands a high price. Captive-bred specimens are sometimes referred to as "Half Moon" angelfish.
