Common Name: Tomato Clown/Anemonefish

Species Name: Amphiprion frenatus Brevoort, 1856


Range: Western Pacific Ocean: South China Sea and northwards to Japan


Size: Up to 5.5 inches (14 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabits protected bays and lagoons.


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 77 - 82°F (25 - 27ºC), and accepts a wide variety of foodstuffs, e.g. mysis shrimp, fortified brine shrimp, various meaty diced fish and shrimp flesh, and Spirulina flake. Should be fed a few times per day. Extremely hardy. Host anemone in the aquarium appears to be: Entacmaea quadricolor and Heteractis crispa. Captive bred specimens available. Aggressive in adult form and will do battle with each other and smaller tankmates. Best kept singly or as a mated pair, and not with other anemonefishes.
