Common Name: Chagos Anemonefish

Species Name: Amphiprion chagoensis Allen, 1972


Range: Western Indian Ocean: Chagos Archipelago


Size: Up to 4 inches (10 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit seaward reef areas, yet occasionally found in lagoons on reef tops at 30 to 80 foot (10 - 25 m) depths


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 77 - 82°F (25 - 27ºC). Similar to A. nigripes, and rarely available. Diet is 'probably' the same as for other anemonefish, i.e., accepts a wide variety of foodstuffs, e.g. mysis shrimp, fortified brine shrimp, various meaty diced fish and shrimp flesh, and Spirulina flake. Should be fed a few times per day. There is no information on host anemones.
