I've known Roy for many years. He would often call me in the early evening hours from his home in England and chat, sometimes for hours, about his reef aquarium. I can remember some very early morning 'goodnights' between us! A dedicated hobbyist would be an understatement! His interest in microbial processes grew as did our friendship. A few years ago he began West Yorkshire Marine Group (WYMAG), which I believe is now the largest marine aquarium society in the UK. Currently he is their secretary and produces an extremely colorful newsletter. He's also opened UK Marines, a shop having 6000 square feet where system water quality is controlled with an enormous plenum system. I finally met Roy when I spoke at one of the yearly seminars at Leicester University that WYMAG and Instant Ocean produce. He's an extremely gregarious person, and we continue to exchange email and update each other on happenings in our hobby. He can be reached at: roymeek@wymag34.freeserve.co.uk.
