My professional writing career began in about 1985 with a magazine solely dedicated to the marine side of the hobby. In fact, I wrote for Marine Fish Monthly for over fourteen years and may have had the world's longest running marine column as I had written 178 straight monthly articles without ever missing one month! Unfortunately, that magazine ceased publication due to the editor's poor health. And during that time and more recently have also penned articles for other fine magazines, including Marine World, which is published in the in the U.K.
Marine World, also solely dedicated to the marine hobby, is a fairly new publication with it coming into existence in 2001. Because of its broad range of subject matter, excellent authors, exquisite photography and down-to-earth terminology and direction, it has grown into a resounding success story. And in my opinion, it's a magazine dedicated to the average hobbyist and does not come across as a 'technical journal' or platform for those only wishing to explore far-reaching theories. Therefore it appeals to the greater majority of marine fish-only and reef aquarium hobbyists.
And because I've been asked numerous times if I know of another marine only magazine, I'm happy to say that Marine World is now in the early stages of becoming readily available in the United States.
