Les Holliday

Les is a well-known marine biologist who specializes in tropical marine resource management and with others within the Tropical Marine Research Unit at the University of York in the U.K.

I first met Les in London when he interviewed me for an article in the U.K. magazine Practical Fishkeeping. He travels the world to access tropical marine environments in order to advise governments regarding methods for managing coral reefs, mangroves and other coastal environments. He is the author of two books, one titled `Coral Reefs` and the other `Ocean Life.` He has also contributed to a number of other titles regarding marine aquaria keeping such as `The Book of the Marine Aquarium ` (lead author Nick Dakin).

Les also has his own marine consultant company and is the aquatics consultant to a number of agencies and companies. One familiar to aquarists would be Rolf C. Hagen a Canadian company with a major presence in the U.S. as well as the U.K. and Europe. And, he has a wonderful column in Practical Fishkeeping dedicated to reef systems both in the wild and the aquarium, and is also a regular contributor to other aquatics magazines and Scuba diving titles.
