Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Java and Philippines to western Samoa, north to Southern Japan and south to the southern Great Barrier Reef.

Size: 5 inches (12 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits very shallow areas over sand and mud and takes refuge in burrows when threatened and usually found at depths between 10 – 50 feet (3 – 15 m) where it feeds on benthic crustaceans/zooplankton.

General Husbandry: Not normally collected for the trade.
