Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Eastern edge of the Indian Ocean, including Indonesia.
Size: 3 inches (7 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabits rubble areas in sheltered lagoons and subtidal flats at depths between 3 to about 30 feet (1 – 10 m) and mainly feeds on planktonic crustaceans (copepods, mysis, and shrimp larvae), fish eggs and algae.
General Husbandry: Quite attractive and common in the trade, having a upper blue body and dorsal fin, with the lower belly area yellow through to the caudal peduncle, including the pelvic and anal fins.
One of the better behaved members in this genus and usually makes a good addition to a peaceful community fish home aquarium.
As to diet, a meaty diet, e.g., live fortified brine shrimp and/or finely chopped various frozen or fresh meaty foods such as mysis, squid, fish flesh, shrimp, clam and plant material, e.g., flake foods, especially those containing Spirulina should also be offered several times daily.
