Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea and East Africa east to the Line, Marquesan and Tuamotu Islands, north to Southern Japan, and south to New Zealand and Rapa.

Size: 5 inches (14 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits lagoons and seaward reefs waiting for unwary prey and usually found between depths of 3 – 130 feet (1 – 40 m) where it mainly feeds upon fish scales and mucus.

General Husbandry: Not collected for the trade.
