Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Southern Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

Size: 7 inches (17 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits deep rocky reefs at depths from 400 to 600 feet (120 – 180 m) and is usually found below 300 feet (90 m). Its natural diet consists of benthic invertebrates.

General Husbandry: Unfortunately there is extremely little information on this cool water species, which has rarely ever been collected for the trade. Should you have some data on this species, share it with me so I may post it for others to see.

    Genus: Chaetodon

FYI: This species was originally a member of the Prognathodes genus.

May now be in the Roa genus, along with, Roa excelsa, Roa jayakari and possibly a new species, Roa australis.

Temperature Range: 66 - 73°F (19 – 23°C)
