Acropora

Acropora millepora

(Ehrenberg, 1834)

Tabletop Coral

Likely Reef Tank Suitable

Likely Fish-Only Tank Suitable

Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Widespread.

Natural Environment: Inhabits shallow reef flats, and sometimes seen in lagoons and upper reef slopes usually at depths between 6 to 40 feet (2 - 12 m).

General Husbandry: See Acropora abrolhosensis for suggested aquarium husbandry, except for swifter water movement - WM 3 and brighter light, PAR 450+ and if possible, water surges.

Taxonomy:

    Kingdom: Animalia

    Phylum: Cnidaria

    Class: Anthozoa

    Subclass: Hexacorallia

    Order: Scleractinia

    Family: Acroporidae

    Genus: Acropora

FYI: Has a plate-like growth with short shout upward growing columns. Those found near the surface are quite colorful, with bright pink a common color.

Cultured specimens exist in the trade that exhibit bright colors, therefore ask under what PAR conditions it was grown in, so you may continue to see it maintain its health/colors!
