Acropora

Acropora latistella

(Brook, 1891)

Table-top Acropora

Likely Reef Tank Suitable

Likely Fish-Only Tank Suitable

Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Widespread.

Natural Environment: Inhabits shallow turbid reef flats and usually seen at depths between 10 to 65 feet (3 - 20 m).

General Husbandry: See Acropora abrolhosensis for suggested aquarium husbandry, except for swifter water movement - WM 3 and brighter light, PAR 450+ and if possible, water surges.

Taxonomy:

    Kingdom: Animalia

    Phylum: Cnidaria

    Class: Anthozoa

    Subclass: Hexacorallia

    Order: Scleractinia

    Family: Acroporidae

    Genus: Acropora

FYI: In the wild, usually table-top/plat-like with upward growing branches often with many colors, but mostly pale cream, grey or brown, sometimes green or purple, with branch tips sometimes yellow.

Cultured specimens exist in the trade that exhibit bright colors, therefore ask under what PAR conditions it was grown in, so you may continue to see it maintain its health/colors!
