Diatoms

Diatoms Stringy Growth

Not Reef Tank Suitable

Not Suitable for Fish-Only Tank

Note: When diatom coatings on aquarium substrate become thick, they become stringy and begin to degas, releasing oxygen into the water causing the pH to rise. Said pH can/could climb very high, sometimes exceeding 8.5/8.6, which any higher will affect the health of the aquariums inhabitants. These thick coatings need to be siphoned out, and water changes using processed water accomplished.
