Range: West Indies, Florida, and Bermuda.
Natural Environment: Inhabits shallow protected lagoon sandy areas.
Aquarium Suitability: Prefers sandy bottom areas and intense light. Its upright stalks are short lived however, maybe lasting only a few weeks. Yet new growths will occur within a short distance of the main stalk via runners from the disintegrating central stalk. May grow up to a few inches per day and is a good water quality indicator. Requires moderately high alkalinity and calcium levels.
