Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: East Africa to the Line and Society Islands, north to Southern Japan, and south to the Great Barrier Reef.

Size: 7 inches (17 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits crevices and caves on lagoon reefs, reef faces, and fore-reef slopes and can be found at depths between 50 - 100 feet (15 - 30 m) during daylight hours, and feeds at night mainly on crabs and shrimp.

General Husbandry: Has a bright red body, often with a clear dorsal fin with red edging. Rare in the wild and not purposely collected for the trade.
