Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Indonesia north to Southern Japan, and south to Australia.

Size: 5 inches (12 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits muddy bottom areas on coastal reefs and is found at depths between 3 - 300 feet (1 - 90 m) where it feeds strictly on benthic invertebrates.

General Husbandry: Has several color phases; usually a motted brown, yet sometimes grenish brown or yellow overall. Not collected for the hobby.

FYI: Unsuitable for home aquariums.

A public aquarium species.

Must have a steady diet of ‘live’ foods, i.e., fortified live brine shrimp, grass shrimp, and/or copepods/amphipods and be fed four or five times a day.
