Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Cocos and Christmas Islands in the eastern Indian Ocean; Moluccas to Tuamotu and Austral Islands, north to Southern Japan, south to Shark Bay and southern Great Barrier Reef and Rapa.

Size: 16 inches (40 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits lagoons and seaward reefs rich in coral growth and usually found at depths between 3 – 200 feet (1 – 60 m) where it feeds mainly on algae.

General Husbandry: Colors vary between sexes and its stage of growth (phase). Not collected for the trade.
