Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea to South Africa and east to Hawaiian, Line and Ducie Islands, north to Southern Japan, and south to New South Wales, Lord Howe and Rapa Islands.

Size: 16 inches (40 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits shallow lagoons, reef flats and coral rich areas and usually found at depths between 3 – 150 feet (1 – 45 m) where it feeds mainly on algae.

General Husbandry: Adults have an overall mottled greenish and juveniles have a dark body with several horizontal white stripes. Not normally collected for the trade.
