Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: Southern Florida and Gulf of Mexico to Brazil.

Size: 40 inches (100 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits rocky bottom areas on shallow inshore reefs and is found at depths between 30 – 100 feet (10 – 30 m) where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Usually a light brown body with small white vertical bands. A rare occurrence is a specimen with red to orange spots. Not collected for the trade.
