Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea to South Africa and north to Southern Japan, and south to New Caledonia and Rapa Islands.

Size: 80 inches (200 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits deep reef channels and seamounts with adults mostly found in deeper waters and juveniles in shallow waters at depths between 30 – 1300 feet (1 – 400 m) where they feed on small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Has a whitish body with large black spots. Not collected for the trade.
