Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea and east coast of Africa, and from Southern Japan to Queensland, Australia and Lord Howe Island.

Size: 30 inches (75 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits areas near caves and large crevices in lagoons and outer reefs and found at depths between 3 – 150 feet (1 – 45 m) where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Has a mottled grey/black body. Not collected for the trade.
