Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: North Carolina to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, and south to Brazil.

Size: 35 inches (87 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits rocky and muddy bottom areas on coastal reefs and usually found at depths between 15 – 1000 feet (5 – 300 m) where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Has a mottled reddish brown body. Not collected for the trade.
