Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: Massachusetts to Bermuda, and south to Brazil.

Size: 24 inches (60 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits rocky reefs shallow protected turbid coastal reefs and is found at depths between 1 – 400 feet (1 – 120 m) where it feeds on small fishes, crustaceans and turtles.

General Husbandry: Adults are usually tan with red spots on the head, body and fins, with spots becoming larger towards the tail. Not purposely collected for the trade.
