Species Name: Pomacanthus xanthometapon

Authority: (Bleeker, 1853)

Common Name: Yellow-Face Angelfish

Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: Maldive Islands to Vanuatu, north to Yaeyama Islands, Palau and Krosae in Micronesia

Size: 15 inches - 38 cm

Natural Environment: Inhabits areas near steep drop-offs or in protected lagoons and collected between depths of 15 to over 70 feet (5 - 20 m)

General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and their natural diet consists mainly of sponge, tunicates and some algae. Need a varied diet and numerous feeding per day. A popular aquarium fish that needs lots of open swimming areas.

Aquarium Suitability: Reported as moderately hardy and peaceful, yet should be last fish introduced to the aquarium. Better suited for the fish-only aquarium. Needing an aquarium 125 gallons or larger.
