Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea and East Africa south to the Durban Islands and most islands in the western Indian Ocean; and the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, and also known from Japan.

Size: 7 inches (18 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits sandy estuaries and lagoons and usually seen in pairs hovering just above the substrate and usually found at depths between 3 –30 feet (1 – 10 m) where it feeds upon algae and tiny invertebrates.

General Husbandry: Not normally collected for the trade.
