Members in the Family Vermetidae live in worm-like tubes and do not move around like other snails. They secrete a slime that is trailed out into the water in order to catch suspended matter. Their tubes have exceeded 10 inches (25 cm) in my aquariums. Harmless and usually seen in reef aquariums with live rock.
